My problem is I'm now wondering about my lens choices. Before I got the 5Dc I was hell bent on getting the 24-70L because I've seen what it does with the 50D (awesome lens) However now that I have the 5D I'm thinking maybe get the 24-105LIS, I have the battery grip fitted to the 5D and its way heavier than the 50D and grip so I'm think I may be better off with the IS lens. I already have the 100LIS and the the 50 1.4 so the F4 on this lens may not be too bad. any opinions here. Im getting beautiful shots out of my 70-200F4IS with the 5D

Well, in my opinion you can't lose with either the 24-70 or the 24-105. I like them both! The 24-105 is great because, like you referred to, it is light and compact and, with the longer range and the IS, makes for a great all-purpose walk-around lens. I use it a lot on the 5DC for that reason -- it's way different from packing my heavy 1D3 with the heavy lenses I use with it, including the 24-70!

Sure, but let's face it, for most conditions you don't need wider than f/4. And, for most conditions I don't want to use wider than f/4 -- in fact for general photography, like street photography and such, I'm much more often at f/5.6, until the light gets dimmer. Of course, for the challenging ones, I have wider lenses to fall back on!

f/1.2 or go home lol. Personal taste, I shoot wide open just about all the time. I also do a lot of low light stuff too.

Heh! Brennon you get great stuff, and probably would at whatever aperture:)!

But, yeah, wide open is a creative choice and can guide our choice of lenses. I just like to be even-handed in my advice:)!

Of course lol. Soon, the 1DIIN thread will be filled with my posts. Should have mine sent out late next week. Getting it from a member on here for a nice deal (I think), just gotta wait till I get some more funds in the bank so I'm not 100% broke after I buy it hahaha. They are both solid cameras (1DIIN and 5Dc) just gonna use them for different things. After it gets here you might not see me for a week or two cause I'm gonna put the 1D through it's paces.

Looking forward to what you can do w/ the 1d2n Brennan.
Tony I went w/ the 24-105 for mostly everyday shooting and walkarounds but I do use it when I second shoot for weddings. It's a great lens and capable of a lot. I got the 50 1.4 like you as well so you'll have that for when wide apertures are needed.
If you didn't already do so, write down every aspect that either lens can do for you and when the right deal comes up, GO FOR IT. Availability is getting scarce

I bought mine earlier this week on FM for $350 as well (though with hood and filter) :D

I sold mine with the hood and filter too. I'm still happy though. I was able to sell my 85 1.8 and my 70-200 4L to help fund my new 70-200 2.8 II. Now, I just need to get some time away from work to use it!

Love it. I'm starting to agree with this thinking!

I am definately beginning to lean towards the route of selling all my zooms for fast ass primes!! Since the purchase of my 50 1.4 I'm hooked....
