What do you guys suggest?

A 70-200 mm 2.8 or the 24-70 2.8?

Trying to decide if I should really go for the 2.8 version, I so rarely use the 70-200. And if I am rolling "normal" focal lengths I like to go wide open with a fifty...
Jeez, there is way to many lenses to choose between.

And gosh I got into the gear mode as soon as I stopped shooting, I have thought about selling every piece of my gear. Perhaps I should just quit **** and go out and shoot some awesome pics.

Well, it's hard to advise -- if it were me I'd either go with the 24-70 or the 24-105 because to me they fill a very useful focal range. Each had different strong points, and I can gladly recommend either. But, you have to check with your shooting needs and preference -- do you find yourself wanting/needing something in that range?

Thank you very much, Tony! It's my second time shooting at the Palace of Fine Arts (San Francisco) and I decided to go for a head on and centered shot this time, both since there wasn't a photographer who'd already claimed the spot like last time, and because I ignored that little voice in my head that told me it was too conventional to do so. I'm happier with this version, though, I think.

I used the magic cloth technique, which allowed me to give 99 seconds to the very bottom, a minute to the rest of the bottom half and about 20 seconds for the top half. Couldn't have done that with grad NDs, and all I needed was the neck strap I already had:).

If a lens sits in my bag for more than 2 months...time to sell. I don't have too much money so if something isn't doing what I need it to, it goes to fund something that will.

Really? :oops:that means i have to sell a ton of lenses. For everyone, what lenses from my signature should I sell, I usually use my 50 only. So which lenses do you recommend to get after selling the ones that sit around?

thanks

Depends on what you like to shoot haha. I like primes and portraits/weddings/events so I plan on rolling with 2 bodies, 17-40L(maybe)/24L/50L/135L

Lenses i use: 50mm and I plan to keep 15-30 and 100mm. I use primes mostly because when i was with the rebel the large element on the 24-85mm used to pull it down when extended. it has a 67mm filter. On the 5D its usable, although i hardly use it.

I was thinking a 200/2.8L with a teleconverter (3rd party cause Im a student =/) so it double as a 300/4. I think i have all the bases covered, but I have too many that sit around. Speaking of sitting around, I have been too long, like a week without "clacking" the 5D. Spring break is in a week, I'll try and post some. Any tips for fast PP. It seems like I'm not satisfied unless I am working on an Image for an hour.
