I just sent both my 5Ds in for the mirror fix this month. Super quick turnaround too!

Yup, ~1 week turn around time here (Irvine).

Did not like the fact that my camera was MIA for the entire week though. No repair #. No one at canon knew where it was. Called in this morning and computer says it was delivered to my apartment complex's office this morning.

There have been at least a couple of threads where the owners have implied that canon pushed hard to do a shutter replacement on older 5D's sent in for the mirror fix. I wonder if this is a new phase of upsell by the service centers?

Canon never pushed that on me, and my camera has pretty high shutter count (50k). Then again, they never contacted me during the whole process.

I found yeast particles collecting on the bottom of every Blue Moon bottle in my case! Not really appealing to drink.

My mirror came off last week, called the service center sent me a ups tag.....no problem till i received a e-mail wanting $220.00 labor to fix. I called them said it was recall, they apologized and are fixing and cleaning the camera.
Will get back in 7 working days.

I like that faces of Haiti series gh! What's this about a recall? Is this the one from like a year ago about the mirror? Still haven't gotten that done.

So I guess most of the old guard has gone 5d2 or 1ds2? For the record, since getting my 1ds2, I still prefer the 5d classic and it's still by far my favorite body! I think my hands are 5d-shaped.

Mind if I ask how you do your bw conversions? Love the gritty look and the contrast, tones, and detail you are pulling out of those shots is pretty wild.

I attribute most of the look to the 5D and good glass and good light. All were shot ambient. The ones posted so far have all been done in LR 3 with some tone curve adjustments, some clarity and thats about it although I also like to use Nik silver efex pro 2 as well.
