are the files really that much better than the 50D?

maybe i exaggerated a bit. however, the files DO give you more elbow room when it comes to post i've found and the files are a lot less noisy in the shadows. it's an all around better camera.

well I am thinking about getting a 50D and a 24-105f4 sounds like I will be getting better images going to this camera.

I have 500d, which I dare to say is same sensor and MP as 50D.
I'm not using 500d for portraits anymore only 5d.
I would recommend couple of non-expensive primes like 35/2 and 85/1.8 for portraits.
Or 28-75/2.8 and 85/1.8 for the price of 24-105f4.
If you wan't reasonably priced L zoom for portraits any 70-200 including F4 will do.

135 2.8 cheap MF lens, ISO 1250, no flash.

Taken from the top of the Thompsom Hotel downtown Toronto. Me and some of my classmates attended the private rooftop lounge party for the Design Thinkers 2011 Graphic Design conference. Was quite a good time, and what a 360 degree view. I'll upload a couple more photos I have from the top soon...

I like that 2nd one, BangBang!

Thanks, shame the focus is slightly off on the eye.

And I the first! Good to see you back in action.

Thanks Mook! Haven't been out of action, just haven't had time to post!
Had two intense weeks with John Kimmich, he is a great teacher but you won't have time to do anything but shoot.

that's awfully silly. having a big camera slung over your shoulder can't possibly be good for your aim. ;)

Came rushing home from work and ran out to shoot a few shots. I have no words to say for this camera compared to switching over from the 60D. I'm really impressed with it. Can't imagine how great it will be if and once i get my hands on some L lenses!
