(and yes I just finished reading most of the manual- I still don't get it.) How can I Auto expose for one area of the picture, and Auto focus on an entirely different area? The "default" way is to get exposure on an area by half-clicking the shutter button and then pressing the AE Lock "*" button, then focus on the other part (again half-pressing the shutter button). An alternative is to move the focus to the * button using C.Fn-04. This way you can press the * button to focus and the shutter button to expose. Or, of course, you can expose using Manual, like has been suggested. I normally Do shoot manual. However I LOVE OCF though I'm not fast enough or good enough to shoot 2yr olds (THEY ARE QUICK and do NOT sit still for long - mor at all lol) with OCF accurately. SO I'm thinking when shooting the little darlings that I might just grab a long Ettl cable and let my 5802 get it right faster than I can. Not sure I will ever even need to know my original question, but all that thinking got me wondering.. lol Thanks y'all for the help. I Love this thread! Jennifer

I'd personally go with the 5Dc, but this thread may be a bit biased. 19 year old photographer with a 5D, and some L glass.

Jan 28, 2012 15:42 | #9341 I would go with the 5Dc because it's newer (5D: November '05 - 1Ds mk1: August '02) and has (considerably) better high ISO performance. Also bigger LCD, if that matters to you. High ISO on this camera is magical (and by high I mean max of 1600). raѕιdel ѕlιĸa f l i c k r
