Anyone out there got a 50D and a 5D classic? I'm considering a classic because I cant afford the mark 2 model at the moment, I want to keep my 50D for sports and wildlife but I do a few kids portraits, often on the move and a few weddings a year. I'm wondering is the 5D worth it, is there anything it can bring to my photography that the 50D cant? what is it like in low light? I can shoot up to ISO 2500 and clean up the 50D shots really well, I'm told the 5D only goes to ISO 1600, but then being full frame I guess it would be letting in more light. will this camera be a worthwhile purchase considering how old it is now and how hard is it to get used to the display set up after the ease of the 50D menu system?

I sold my 50D and bought the 5D, the iso is better on the 5D and the IQ also! Only thing i miss from the 50D is the better AI servo and sensor cleaning. But if you can own both of them, it would be a good combination!

I was a little torn between the 50D and 5Dc but went with the 5Dc. 50D has MA, live view, and a much better display. Those can be helpful. That being said, I'm coming from a 30D so I figure it'll feel like an all-around upgrade other than the AI-servo focus, which I barely use anyway. I wanted the narrow DOF, dynamic range, high ISO performance, and wide angle (looking forward to a 17-40).

It is perfect paired with the 50d. The 50d has sports and reach whilst the 5d has extremely good light capabilities. I was stunned when I tried the 5d with a fast lens, it is insanely good in low light.

I'll step in here and say...wonderfully. I love that lens on my crop, but it is a bit long a lot of the time. On a FF it is really a terrific length for me. 70 is actually wide enough to use on a couple of people who are in the room with you, and zoomed out it still has plenty of reach. Obviously IQ wise it's only going to be better on the 5D.

I much prefer my 70-200 f/4 on the 5d. I also found it a bit too long on the crop in a lot of situations.

I remember your post about camera snobs :D

70-200 on 5Dc is true landscape lens.

And nice portrait lens. Actually it makes much more sence on 5Dc as portrait lens.
At 70 mm I was able to fit in four kids sitting in line on sofa (three of them ) and high chair and it was in small room.
