Canon has refurbished 24-105mm lenses for $919 until 2-11 (I think). This includes a one year warranty.

Out of curiousity, where did you find this? I went to canon refurb and the price is 1149.

Well damn, it took me a while to find it again. Guess I should have had that second martini before looking. I was sure I found it because I ordered one and had the conformation email. Here's the link

Yup - I saw that 70-200 II for $1999 and it is very tempting.

Not a bad price on 24-105 if they didn't charge tax, but for FL when you add tax and shipping it ends up being over 1K :(

I'm debating between spending $975 (total) for the refurb w/ a one-year warranty or trying to find one in the Classifieds used for 800-825. Which one would be the wiser decision?

Once in a while there are some that pop up in the $700's in the POTN classifieds.

Check out eBay, once in awhile Calmeta has new lenses for under $950. I almost went that route, but being a NYer they would charge me sales tax. Ended up finding a very nice used one here for $770 including shipping and paypal fees.
