Some areas look a bit dark... Maybe some careful dodging in selected spots?

Yeah either just a tad more brightness to the image, less black level clipping, or what hallie suggested to bring out more contrast and detail in the parts of the image that are not the taj.

Ta guys and girls, before the I resized it for this site I could see detail in the "shadow" areas.....not sure what happened in the downsizing op.

Although was thinking a bit of a lighten up would do wonders..

Might be better without the foreground buildings, crop the lower 1/4. I like the look but what is split-toning?

Might just be that it has a white border around it. Messes with how our eyes see contrast between light and dark. Really, any surrounding shade or hue will mess with how our eyes see the image. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josef_Albers (external link)

What is Split Toning......to be honest I'm not sure how to explain it...I'm sure someone here can give you a good answer though Qbx.
I just use the LR3 split tone panel and guess it's changing the hue for shadows and highlights?

But the photo I posted on here was a chocolate brown colour in LR and my image preview on my computer...guess it having a greenish cast here has something to do with Firefox???
Anyone have a reason why it's green instead of brown?

I like this crop, however I get distracted by the lighter parts of the buildings in the foreground when looking at the Taj. I'd play around with reducing the contrast and burning in the lighter areas in the foreground ... and bumping up the Taj's contrast a little bit.

Also, I like the border idea. But maybe something a bit more classic-ish because your image doesn't look funky ... it looks more old time / historic / classy. Anyways, nice job. I'd love to photograph that someday. ;)

I agree with many comments and decided to do my own edit. The white border did bother me because it sort of attempts to set the tone and contrast based on that white border. That's a problem with the greenish/yellow monotone. My edit is only my view of it.

Let me say I do like this perspective of the Taj. It shows it in a busy city sense instead of the placid, peaceful reflection image we're all accustomed to.
