Engineer Mountain

Engineer mountain (a few miles north of Durango, CO). The soft pre-dawn light was what motivated me to endure the -4 degrees F one morning a few weeks ago. This shot was taken with Canon 5D Mark II w/ EF 24-105mm f/4L 2s f/11.0 at 105.mm iso100.

Nice overal.
I might consider reducing the blacks on the conifers a little.

Beautiful shot, Frank. I have visited the San Juans numerous times and just love the country there. However, I've never been there in winter and likely never will, so thanks for sharing this.

I appreciate that comment Glenn. I struggled with post processing on this one. The snow below the upper tree line had a very distinct blue color cast - reflection of the sky I presume. To get rid of the blue cast, I desaturated everything below upper tree line. Then, in order to "pop" the aspen trees at the bottom, I boosted the whites and increased the contrast. The end result was much improved IMO, but caused the conifers to go completely black.
