split screen for 350D

i have considered fittting a split screen focus to my 350, has anyone else done this and if so did you feel it was worth it or just not worth the bother, i still really miss the old school split of my AE1.

I didn't have if on a 350, but I did on my 40 and was not impressed. It helped in certain situation but the change in metering was just not worth it to me.


Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

claims are that metering is unaffected, i guess they say that so to be able to sell units eh.

Most people I've talked to, the metering WAS affected, and it certainly was on mine. I made mine by cutting down an old screen. I later cut down a Canon factory EC-B screen looking for an improvement.

I later tried one in one of my 40D's. Forget who made it. I eventually removed it. One thing you are fighting in the 350D is the dimmer viewfinder (mirror, no prism) and the TERRIBLY small viewfinder.

One thing you must be aware of --easily proved in my 40D with live view -- is that the viewfinder diopter changes the apparent focus point of the split as the diopter is varied.
