Computer woes Terri?

Hate when that happens. I've had some weird stuff happen to my computer recently, but ran CCleaner, a registry cleaner, check disk....and all has been well. *whew*

Mostly just very sluggish. I did not have my wireless secured, so I figure the neighbors were appreciating that
Now that is fixed, but still running a tad slow, but I am thinking FireFox may have been part of the problem. I am test driving google chrome and it is quite zippy!

Well, there will always be a lag during peak hours, especially with any streaming. We cannot have Netflix on the tv and try to be online, too.
But last night there was no rhyme or reason that I could discern (other than some neighbors copping a free ride )
So with that no longer an option, FF was the next easy thing to look at. Plus, I have GC at work and have been quite impressed with its speed and ease of use! And knowing that Chris has been using it and likes it factored in as well.

Very sluggish overall or just on the internet?

Reason I ask is because I had the same situation with my internet back in December. At the time I had a Sprint Broadband card in a wireless router serving 5 wifi spots from the router. It was so sluggish on the internet that it would take an HOUR to load Google.com. Called Sprint to make sure that there were no problems with the reception here in the area....long story short, if I wanted to get faster service (3G), I had to upgrade hardware and contract with no unlimited data :(. All the options didn't work and I didn't want to lose unlimited data. Soooo....I went to Clear...my brother works for them. Now I am on 3G...but one day the internet was a little sluggish taking longer than usual to load a page and then began flashing an error message on the hotspot. When I googled it, I found several claims all over the internet that Clear Wireless (feeding off of Sprint Cell Towers) is throttling the internet during peak hours!! Made me mad.....but then the peak hours are late...like 10PM to Midnight here....weird. Anywhoo....another thing that I noticed that slowed down the wifi on both Sprint and Clear....was the number of devices on the wifi at one time. If there are only 5 slots available, but 8 devices all fighting for a spot on the wifi router, it will get sluggish as connections drop out and reconnect. This is what really got me on the Sprint card.....and I didn't figure it out until I cut the service. How you ask? Clear has a little screen on the wifi hotspot to tell you how many users are on the wifi....that first day I had the wifi, there were 5 and the device IDs were changing every couple minutes as things would connect and disconnect....like the printers, work computers, Evan's iPod my desktop....yadda yadda yadda.

Sounds extremely frustrating! I am using Charter internet, with a wireless router, so not quite as advanced as you all  But, yes, it has been just the net being sluggish.

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!

Yes. I use "Jeffrey's Exif Viewer." It works great and you get so much more info that I've gotten in the past.

Yes it has been.

You probably have the same problem as me with the router....too many devices wanting wifi and not enough slots.

Yo Chris.

aah, OK I have seen them, they look like a grackle without the nice eyes and some more spots.

I am NO birder, LOL!!

I can't wait to have a larger easier to cook in kitchen!

Yeah, that's about what they look like. Just send T-Spin after them.

Permagrin wrote in post #11901847 (external link)
the sad part about the starlings is that they were NOT introduced to North America for a good reason.

I mean, we got the cane toad because they were trying to eradicate the cane beetle. We got the mongoose (who has nearly wiped out the the entire bird population of Hawaii, except on one island I believe) because they were trying to wipe out the rat that was destroying the sugar cane.

But the reason we have starlings...because, in 1890, a small group of people thought that North America should be exposed to all the animals in Shakespeare. So they let loose 60 starlings in Central Park. Now there are over 150 million in NA and heading to South.

Yep. English Sparrows, too.

Thing is, I saw them just recently and I still can't remember where I saw them. Getting old sucks...

Try under your red socks in the special drawer alongside the diving undies.
