Love the first hippo and second doorways D, happy to see you here!!

Thanks! Hippo #1 is today's take on it ;-)a The door was #3

CrazieCricket wrote in post #12049267 (external link)
D, I agree with Crissa. I like #1 on the hippos and #2 on the doorway.

Thanks!

Becky N wrote in post #12049314 (external link)
#1 on the hippos. The deeper colors for the sunset/rise is very appealing.

#1 on the door also. The other two draw me right to the center to court where number one makes me look at all the detail in the door and arches.

#2 brings out more detail on the carving, you might want to use the cloning brush on the court area to tone it down so as not to draw the eye so much. Then I think I would prefer it over #1.

Thanks for the advice Becky! I actually wanted to make the light in the middle come out and put everything else in darkness

Oops.:o:lol: Just shows once again, how subjective this hobby is.

Bit of a delay, Curt is finishing up a door that he painted and repaired that needs to go back to Allen Street. So I'm PP in the background until he is ready to go.

Dano and anyone interested. Boat going over the Tsunami out at sea. No tragedy or wreckage, thankfully, just an interesting perspective. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=35d_1300516340 (external link)

Out at sea is the best place to be in that situation. They must have been relatively close to the coast for it to be that high. The further out to sea the less noticeable the wave is.

Lol, look out Heather. Before long he will have 5 radios screaming and squawking at you 24/7. I have seen it happen before. I currently have 4 scanners and a shortwave receiver on my desk. Much to Leyla's delight I don't often fire them all up anymore.

I have a portable scanner on my desk as well, but there's not much to hear around here. Police and fire are on a 800Mhz trunking system and my scanner isn't capable of receiving that. I have it programmed for the local airports and railroads but with the small antenna, I can't hear much.

Pimp it out with all sorts of electronic gizmos.

It's already got a GPS...

You can get galvanized mast mounting hardware that will rust slower than a hose clamp. Not much wind load there but trust me, that thing wiggling against a hose clamp 24/7 will cause it to rust and snap. Depot and radio shack both carry it.

I have the clamps so I'm going to go with those for now. They're easily replaceable if necessary. If it looks like the thing is swaying around too much in the wind, I'll guy it.

Soooo, you know how states have a state bird, or state flower? West Virginia's state flower is the satellite dish by the way. Well, Utah, that bizarre and confused place that looks like Mars, has decided on a state gun. I am moving in Cat, move on over:lol::roll::roll: At least it is a 1911 Government Model, they showed good taste. Apparently Browning came from Utah. http://www.cnn.com …firearm/index.html?hpt=T2 (external link)

HAHAHAHA!

Cool on the M1911. I loved that gun.

That was so cool.

I've never "hit" a tsunami, but I've seen my fair share of big waves. Big waves are pretty relative. A 50 footer probably wouldn't be much to a big Navy carrier or Battleship, but having to beat through a storm of them off of Oregon in a little CG cutter was a BLAST.

Timphoto wrote in post #12049210 (external link)
Not a big deal when it's out in the middle of the ocean, is it?

Not really. Like John said, these guys were up on the continental shelf, somewhere near land to get that much wave face going. In the middle of the Big Blue Wet Thing you'd have a hard time seeing the tsunami at all.

I was just thinking about the word, "Hippopotamus". It's a convoluted Latin word meaning, "River Horse".

OK, what latin dude thought that up?

"Hey, Octavius, what's that freakin' HUGE animal in the water over there?"

"It's a... it's a... HORSE! In a... RIVER!"

"...really? THAT'S a horse. OK, no more tequila for you, you sot."

Didier, great to see you have time to re-edit photos. Heck, I can't find the time, nor desire, to process many for the first time. I do like your edits. 1 and 2 best for me.

Here is the tattoo I was talking about a few days ago on the foot of Caitlin's BFF, Janna. She is an amateur, or wannabe, paleontologist. Not something I would want, but still kinda unique. Caitlin's cell phone shot, shared with permission.
