Hi,

Yesterday I was shooting outdoors and it started raining. Being caught up with taking the pictures I didn't notice that I had some raindrops on my lcd. After a while I noticed that my lcd didn't start anymore: there was no image on it. Some time later I noticed that some strange vertical stripes appeared on my lcd.I turned it off.

I checked the lcd today and i had the same stripes appearing.

What do you think could have happed?

How serious it is?

What can i do to fix it? How can i make that water quantity in the inside evaporate?

Did anyone have the same problem?

HELP PLS!

Ive had rain drops on my LCD before and nothing happened. Suppose yours was not completely watertight. I would not mess around with the insides. Rather take it to your local shop immediately. The LCD might almost be the same as a cellphone. Ive heard that cellphone displays easily stop working once they get wet.

I wonder if the water quantity that managed to get inside somehow irreversebly damaged the lcd or if it is a question of drying that water?

I would hate to have to change the LCD due to a few drops of rain.

I wouldn't mind betting that the water thing is not your problem at all, there are quite a few posts on here regarding the internal LCD wiring becoming loose, it might be just a simple job to whip the cover off and check for that first.

I am having the same problem with the LCD on my G6, however it has never been exposed to moisture. I've had the camera for two months, and now intermittently, I see this vertical line running down the screen like a barber pole.

Sad news for me with my G6 LCD. It's been 2 days now since rain managed to slip into my LCD and i'm still seeing nothing but vertical stripes on it. It doesn't matter if I am in photo mode or picture review. I noticed that the stripes change a little bit in colour and size but they remain present. I think It's permanenetly damaged.:(

The question and problem now is where can I fix it and how much will it cost me?:(:(:(

Do they have a Canon service facility in Romania? There must be a few of them in Europe. I have no idea if this is a costly repair, as most service depots will probably charge a nominal flat fee just to check things out.

Lesson learned, I guess.

Lesson learned indeed. The sad part is that it was exposed to rain just for 5 minutes. My luck must have ran out that day...:(

I will try to locate a Canon authorised repair shop.
