what program are you using to rename multiple pictures at one time instead of having to edit them one at a time?

If you just want to batch rename inside the finder use the Automator. Google it if you need help but basically you tell it to perform tasks in a certain order I.e. 1. Gather selected files. 2. Sort by creation date. 3. Rename to --------

Adobe Bridge will also let you rename the images.

^^^ This is what I do if I am renaming files in the finder. Most of the time with images I set the naming scheme at import and let Aperture do it for me.

I use Lightroom, but if you don't have it then use an Automator script.

Google search for "Automator batch file rename" gives this (external link). Choose which ever is the easiest for you.
