I was just curious, how many stolen goods tracking sites are there online. I'm sure using a combination of several of them would be better than any single one. When you buy from eBay or other location, do you ask for the serial number to check to see if it's been reported stolen?

I listed my stolen items (40D, 11-16) a couple of years ago on www.tracechecker.com (external link) (at that time, www.trace.com (external link)) after a police report was filled out.

I guess there's something new now called www.checkmend.com (external link), too. I'm going to "check" that out, but I'd have to pay for their service.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

Sweet. Thanks for sharing that info. My buddy had all his gear stolen when he went out for a New Year's Eve party. I tried pouring throw craiglist and other ads, asking for serial of what seems like too good to be true deals... but nobody replied with serials!
