I just took delivery of my second Lee filter last night (Big Stopper...Im too busy to get out this weekend to use it...the torture!).

How do you guys store your 4x6 and 4x4 filters? The Lee filters come wrapped in paper inside a protective pouch. So far, Ive been wrapping the filters back into the paper before sliding them into the pouch but thats a PITA.

What does everyone else do - paper or no? If I picked up the Lee multi-pouch and just slid the filters in "naked", would that be risky?

Thanks!

I use the Lee 10-filter pouch, which basically resembles a small notebook...has 10 fabric sleeves to hold filters. No more tissue paper. If the 3-filter pouch is similar, you don't need the paper.

The Lee big stopper is glass, so there is not a big risk in scratching it. However, there is always much more risk with GND resin based filters. For 4x4 or Cokin P size GND resin filters I used to use this small case, sleeves for 4 resin filters.

The Lee cases are simply way too bulky to have more than one in your camera bag. Take the paper off, that will end up as trash blown away somewhere in the great outdoors. Now that I have a few 4x6 filters I need a taller pouch. I recently got the Lowepro
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …S_F_Filter_Pouch_100.html (external link)
which works well and holds both small and large (4x6) filters as well as a Cokin P and Cokin Z filter holders. However, it is rather bulky in the camera bag, and I will continue to work at a more compact solution.

Does anyone keep their filters in any of Think Tank's modular pouches? I like the looks of the LowePro pouch but I don't know if their sliplock will work on my TT Retro 10. I'd like to keep my Lee kit in one pouch that I can attach to my bag or belt when needed.

I use this and it works great for what I need to store.

I can easily store my Lee 4"x4" and graduated filters. I can also store Lee Kit and rings without scratching or damaging the filters.

I use this one.

It's cheap. And not sleek. But I like it because it has Velcro straps in the back in vertical and horizontal so I can attach it anywhere on the outside of my bag or shoulder strap. Only holds 5 filters so I bought two. I keep my most used filters in one that I bring all the time and the other one stays at home with the filters I don't need as often. Easy to grab them if need be.

I have both the adorama one: http://www.adorama.com/GBSFP46.html (external link)
and the lowe pro: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …S_F_Filter_Pouch_100.html (external link)

I prefer the lowe pro even though it's bigger because it holds more filters and EASILY holds my filter holder... The adorama one is nice if you use a lee holder and ~4 filters though as one goes in each slot and it's a smaller package.

I've also used the Lowepro pouches. As stated, it'll hold a several filters as well as the holder with adapter ring attached. If you go this route, you may want to look into Lees filter pouch that's used in their three-filter kits...microfiber material with three separate openings for filters...just slide them in and then fold it over. Not sure if this is sold separately, but you may want to check into it...just found it, here's the link:

Lee Filter Wrap (external link)

When I don't need to carry too many filters, I'll leave the Lee 10-filter pouch at home and fall back on the wrap and my Lowepro pouch. I just attach the Lowepro pouch to the waist strap on my pack and the filters are always handy...no need to rummage through the pack.

Does the Lowepro has a belt loop hook?

One thing I like about Cokin bag is that it has a belt loop.

This allows me to just carry my camera/lens, tripod and the filters. The ability to change out the filters easily and have it on my belt loop.

I just picked up the LowePro filter pouch 100 at Samy's. I think it will do nicely and it easily attached to the side loop of my Retro10. Now if I only had some more filters to put in it. I've got a couple on backorder but you know how that goes.

+1

Be aware that long term storage in the original microfiber filter wrap is not recommended by Lee themselves. I brought the ND Grad kit a few years back and kept the filter stored in their original cloth, I didn't use them for around 6 months. When I came to use them they had reacted with the cloth, causing them to become streaky and faded.

On talking to the Lee product manager he said they do not recommend storing the filters in their wrap over a long time. Apparently they had some problems a couple of years ago with the coatings reacting causing the problems I experienced.

Good on them they replaced my filters. Not had a problem with them since.

Edit: just found this (external link), so it looks like they're still having problems.

i found a filter bended on me and trying to look for 1 that is hard enough to prevent it from happening. Does the lee filter 10 pcs pouch have a hardened front and back?

Hardened, no. Rigid, yes. Your filters are plenty secure in that wallet.
