Good partner for my 17-55. There have been many complaints about the flare. I have encountered flare while out in the field, luckily it has not really been much of a problem for my photography. Since I have used it I don't really shoot too much in the direction of the sun except for sunsets. Never had a problem with flare and sunsets that I can remember. Some people have had issues shooting into any kind of light. It will be more or less of an issue depending on when/where/what you shoot.
