I saw this place xo skins in the mall http://xoskins.com (external link) They didn't have my model on hand, but it was on their web site, so I will need to order. The guy said they were military grade, had no orange peel, and reduce finger prints and smudges. Has anyone here used these on their cameras before? Are they as tough as they say?

Did you know that the plastic screen is actually a screen protector that comes off? You can purchase replacement screens from Canon, and they are not hard to replace.

Canon 6D, 1DmkII, IR modified 5DII with lots of Canon L, TSE and Zeiss ZE lenses

I and others don't use screen protectors to 'protect' the LCD cover (which is the plastic, user-replaceable cover over the LCD itself), but to better deal with grease transfer from the nose...the covers make the grease less noticeable and easier to wipe off sufficiently even with the ball of your thumb.

So they do actually reduce grease... cool. I'll snag one and slap it on. Thanks

I don't know if there's anything super special about the ones you found or not, but you can get pre-cut ones for any canon on ebay really cheap... like $.99 shipped. I have them one a few cameras now and I like them, but wouldn't have paid much more than I did. I don't notice much of any benefit with mine, but I also don't notice any negative effects and it's nice piece of mind to know that there's a positively spotless screen underneath if I sell later or something. I also like to lay my strap on top of the camera in the bag and I don't like the idea of it constantly rubbing against the lcd while I'm walking.

I noticed the nose grease benefit when I first had my 20D and had tried to 'protect' the inherent LCD cover (before everyone discovered how durable and easy to replace it was). When I bought the 40D, I tried the camera without a LCD applique for a while, and verified the level of nose grease annoyance, so I decided it was very worthwhile to apply the LCD overlay.

Well it shipped, I'll post a pic of it when I have it installed. I just want to be able to set it down without worrying about scratching it. The smudge proof ness or whatever you would call it would just be an added beni. I have used the cheap ones on ebay before, the peel off easy or get dirt stuck under them and then scratch the screen anyway.
