I tried to upgrade to 10.6.6 and it didn't work.

Before I did that, I used disk utility to make a copy of the disk, which I thought was a direct clone like when using super duper. It's not.

The copy I made is missing, "GUID_partition_scheme" and "EFI" partitions. The OS X partition is "HouseAtlantic". I put that computer in the drive and I get nothing when I attempt to boot from it, which is expected.

So I used my Macbook to restore the HouseAtlantic partition to the original FUBARed drive. When I attempted to boot from that, I got:

Boot0: GPT
Boot0: testing
Boot0: testing
Boot0: testing
Boot0: error

Browsing has only showed that I should try to make partition 0 active. I followed guides and did that with fdisk and it gave me the same results. I also tried reinstalling Chameleon onto the EFI partition and nothing changed.

Tomorrow night, when I have some time, I'm going to make a new OS X boot USB and try and boot into the two drives and see if it's possible to repair that way.

Beyond that, I'm out of ideas past doing a fresh install. I will not lose any data as everything that's important and can't easily be replaced immediately gets copied to my server which is backed up. I also have a guide that walks me through the install. The biggest downside to this is getting my graphics card to work as Apple never officially supported the GTX 295 and it was a huge pain last time. I think I have most of the information for that if it comes down to it.

I did try a program called disk warrior that would through an error about not being able to fix overlapping files or something like that during the repair attempt and would quit.

So does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to try?

What kind of motherboard do you have? And do you have a super-dupered copy of your drive?

Je n'avais pas besoin de cette hypothèse-là.

I just got it working last night.

I found the P6T install guide I used, made an OS X boot disk which allowed me to boot into the old partition. I then used myhack to reinstall Chameleon and it works fine.

The problem was I use Disk Utility instead of Super Duper thinking it would be an easier restore. That was a bone headed mistake. I'm going to use Super Duper this time to make a clone and use that to experiment on for an upgrade.
