Canon's prices for new Super Telephotos now published in Canada

The following are newly announced prices for the new Super Telephotos in Canada.....

300 f/2.8L IS II ......... $7,349.99

400 f/2.8L IS II ......... $11,549.99

500 f/4L IS II .......... $9,999.99

600 f/4L IS II .......... $12,599.99

OUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I'll be hanging on to my current gear.

So the 200-400 with a 1.4x TC will cost (from what guesses have been made) roughly $3k less than the 500 f/4 IS II alone?

We'll have to wait and see how much Canon puts that lens on the market for. Personally, I think it will likely be between $8,000 and $9,000. Canon is not shy when pricing new technology.

I don't understand why there is such a price discrepancy from the U.S. prices, seeing that the Canadian dollar is basically on par or even HIGHER by a few cents than the American dollar.

And some Canadian retailers wonder why a lot of Canadians order through B&H, Adorama etc.


Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

On Canon Uk site, no prices, they say not on streets untill June.

Thought this was how the prices were going to go, having seen what the 70-200 2.8 II came out at. Canon seem to have had a look at what Nikon are getting away with in their lens pricing and have thought to themselves that they'll have a slice of that pie too.
