Looks like it is just for US only at this moment.

Save Money!
Rebates on the 60D and 7D are coming February 20, 2011 in the United States and run through until March 20, 2011.

60D will get a $100 instant rebate.

7D will get a $200 instant rebate.

Both deals will apply to kits as well. No word on rebates for the rest of the planet.

Just watch out for certain retailers to raise the prices on these items right before the rebates take effect ;)

There is extensive and irrefutable online documentation demonstrating that Canon USA raised prices to retailers during January and February of this year. Canon USA does not provide price support and sometimes will hold an order placed with them before price hikes until the hikes are in effect whereupon they charge retailers the higher prices. This leaves retailers with no choice but to raise retail prices or sell at a loss.

What's the possibility that Canon will re-lower the prices after the rebates end to their former (and cheaper) prices before the rebates took effect? I have been eying a Canon 7D for some time now and was ready to buy but had heard about Canon and their antics whenever they issue rebates. I had heard rumors that Canon, which apparently does this to stiff their customers out of a measly hundred bucks or so, would raise the price before issuing the rebates. In the case of the 7D, the price would be raised $300 or more for a $200 rebate. Just brilliant. Stupidly, I decided to wait to see if maybe the moral fiber of the company had changed since past rebate instances. Woke up this morning and, sure enough, the two stores from which I was looking to buy raised the prices, B&H included (which, by the way, jacked up the price of the 7D $420 pre-rebate - far more than what was necessary to ensure that the camera is not sold "at a loss").

So, can anyone please tell me if the pre-rebate prices will be re-instituted after the rebate ends? Because I am stubborn, I'm not planning on buying the camera out of principle until the rebates end.

All I can say is this crap happens every year, we blame the stores, the stores blame Canon. It is just a gimmick anyway...your best bet is to try and buy good used equipment (At least thats what I try to do most of the time unless its an emergency ;) )

Most likely the prices will drop again, but even if they do you are saving yourself $15-$20 (Adorama was 1479 pre rebate, B&H was 1485 or something), so is saving $15-$20 and "proving a point" that won't make a difference anyway, really worth waiting a month to you?

And it always comes at the exact moment a rebate starts--not looking to buy a bridge at this time.
