The 2,299 after rebate listed price at B&H does not include taxes or shipping...so it's basically the SAME price ;)

Free shipping and No tax to NJ :(

And it always comes at the exact moment a rebate starts--not looking to buy a bridge at this time.

Most rebates are only valid on MSRP pricing, the rebate becomes invalid when combined with another discount. I think what Henry is talking about is the price increases that Canon announced a few weeks ago.

Not true--several authorized retailers are honoring the rebates at the old price--and lenses in the rebate program never sell for MSRP--

Look at Calumet for an example HERE (external link)

Just a case of some retailers gouging the consumer--

I'd be wondering if that gets changed on monday as the price they advertise on the site is 899 like most other retailers.

Even Calumet has the 7D at $1,499 though. So they are in the same boat as all the other retailers.

do you guys know how to get the extra (double)rebates from these online vendors when you purchase the camera as well? I dont see the "double" being applied at the checkout... do you have to call these orders in?

It was amusing to see some of the newer people (to experiences with Canon rebates) who thought that it was merely coincidence that the prices on things had recently drifted downward prior to the rebate release... thinking they'd double dip. Saw this coming a mile away, and while it is unfortunate, this is nothing new in the world of canon.

Since you have a good view of Canon pricing, do you expect prices to drift back down to pre-rebate levels (~$1,399 on buydig.com about two weeks ago), stay at $1,499 or increase to $1,699 (or some other level)? What do you expect from the summer rebate this year?

Just got a nice flyer from my local B&M--Nikon is giving rebates without marking their prices up to give the impression of a deal. ;)
