But the OP can set the 430 or on-board flash to manual and trigger the aftermarket flash. With ETTL disabled there won't be a preflash to fire the other flash(es) prematurely.

apersson850 Obviously it's a good thing More info | Feb 19, 2011 20:11 | #34 randys1a wrote in post #11848638 IF the 60D has custom functions try changing the flash mode from eTTL II to just eTTL. That flash is not compatible with the newer eTTL II tech. First, you can't change the E-TTL mode in a camera. They are either E-TTL II (since 2004) or E-TTL. Anders

Feb 28, 2011 08:53 | #36 Finally got a new flash. I made sure that I got a guarantee that it would work before I bought it online. It is a Bell&Howell Z680AF-C. It works well has a super fast refresh rate and does everything my old flash did. As long as the light sensor is in line, the old flash also fires with it so I am happy. The flash was about $80 shipped so I saved a good amount of money, plus it is also updatable for any new technology down the road. Thanks everyone for your help. Here is a shot of my daughter with the new camera and flash. 072 Ha I finally have a gear list!
