Hellooo!

Some from one of work's good days (it's sunny and I get to go and photograph pretty things rather than sit in the office cloning dust out of old slide scans) in Vincent's Wood, Chippenham, Wiltshire ...

Beautiful natural light! Looks like a peaceful place.

After looking at your images and thinking what a peaceful looking spot I had no idea where it was, so googled it. Sad to read that 70% has been lost to development. It is always the way, we lose pristine forests and bushlands everywhere in the world for the same reasons.

I had a really relaxing time wandering around there for a couple hours, and the light really was beautiful ... did most of my work for me!

The only access points at either end are from housing developments, and the fourth side is the bypass but, fortunately the people I work for (the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust) are probably the reason why even that section remains and do their best to preserve areas like this from disappearing completely ... another woodland nearer to my home is set to either have the current nature reserve extended into the neighbouring fields, or - perhaps more likely - have that area built on right next to the reserve's current borders. There's plenty of brown field sites and increasing numbers of derelict buildings inside the existing town that could be developed ... anyway, thanks for your interest!

The first and second have interesting compositions, and thus are good photos. In the second it looks like a lot of that glare could've been removed with the use of a circular polarizer.

The rest of the photos don't really have a nice composition to them at all, so they don't really hold my attention.

The latter shots were more about the lighting, for me, rather than the composition but that doesn't diminish your point about them having less of a sense of composition to them ...

With regards to glare in the second image, do you mean near the top of the frame? A hood would probably have helped as well ...

Thanks for your input ...

No I mean the glare on the foliage. A CirPol filter would have removed all of that. A hood just blocks flare from singular light sources like the sun or lamps.

Apologies for my sloth in getting back to this - had a slightly busy week last week and this slipped my mind as it would have slipped down the pages of the forum ...

I mentioned a hood because I thought you were referring to an area of what could be (I never really checked ... I just liked the image and that seemed enough to me) lens flare up in the top right where the path and background grass meet but, it would seem you weren't ...
