I had an XTi and loved it but sold it a few months ago in anticipation of upgrading, but I decided against going full frame and doubt a newer Rebel will be worth it. I am going to probably get one of the Ti's, but which one? I am honestly debating if I should just get another Xti, will I really see a quality increase over my XTi when at most I will be printing an 8x10? If I do upgrade, I will wait until the new ti is out, since the t1-2 should be dropping in price.

Just to be clear, every camera you mentioned is a rebel. Printing at 8x10 you probably wont see much difference. In all liklihood the newer bodies will be marginally better at higher iso performance. I'd go for a t2I if they do drop, or a 40D or 50D.

Yes, but you said its not worth getting a rebel, then say you are probably getting at Ti. Confusing I personally wouldnt buy a rebel body at all, but once you do XXd and higher, you dont go back.

Yeah I should have reworded what I was trying to say. I would like one, but is it even worth it? Should I just stick with the trusty old XTi or for not much more get a new rebel body

Since you are buying back in, I would go as new as my budget would comfortably allow.

worth it?
it depends, the cheap rebels have the same sensor but lack some features and are smaller so it depends on what you need. You can compare features here:

The t2i is a great camera. It is my first dslr and it is simply amazing for the price it can be had for. It is very comparable to the 7d...I plan on keeping it untill the 7dii comes out (which won't be for a long while)

The t3i just came out but for 110 more (body only) you're better off with the 60D. A used 40D is alway my suggetion if your on a tight budget and spend some money on glass.

But what image quality will the newest one provide over the t1 or t2?

If you're looking for IQ improvements you'll have to look outside of Canon. Every crop model in the past 2 years has had the same 18mp sensor, which is only marginally better than the Xti's.

So are you suggestion Nikon or another brand has better quality for the money? Im not loyal to any brand so I would consider other suggestions
