Why do you think the bokeh would not be smooth? Yes, probably a bit soft wide open. Gotta be a great test for your MF skills.

Really fast, old lenses does tend to show pretty wild bokeh. I have had a few older f/1.2 lenses, and they are noe where as smooth as todays lenses like Canon f/1.2 and Sigma f/1.4..

But im guessing, could be awesome bokeh :D I couldnt find any pictures taken with it, just a lot of talking.

It has friends, a 240mm f/1.2 and a 250mm f/1.3. There is a nice set of pics on cameraquest (external link). I'm guessing that these wer crazy sharp lenses. If you read a little about the company history (external link), they state that every lens was tested and that film was not flat enough for testing so tests were performed on glass plates. That's pretty crazy.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I see it says 15 lb. Whew. My 180/2 weighs 5.5 lb and I thought that was heavy.

Of the subject a bit but, in case you did not know, Kilfitt Zoomar was the first company to make a "zoom" lens. People just called it a zoom for short. That's were we get the term from. Also they were the first company to make a macro lens.

I always wondered why we call it a zoom lens. I learned this while doing research - one of my enlarging lenses is on a Kilfitt Zoomar focusing helicoil.

WOW,, this is amazing.. From the company's history..

Every Kilfitt lens was tested before leaving the factory. Film was not considered flat enough for accurate tests, so it was shot on glass plates -- two of them. One plate went out with the lens, the other stayed at the factory for future comparisons if the lens was ever returned for repairs. The lenses were bolted to a tripod head mounted in concrete in the basement of the Kilfitt factory. Mr. Kilfitt wanted to turn out quality lenses, and he did. Not only did he make lenses, he also designed cameras. The Robot, the Mecaflex and the Kowa 2 1/4 are all Mr. Kilfitt's designs. Kilfitt's and Zoomars are fine lenses of great precision and optical performance, but today they are hard to find -- at least in the US.

Not bad for a small company. Their 40mm (or is it 35?) macro lens shows up on eBay fairly often.
