Hi, got a brand new 60D and I want a new folder to be created automatically for each day of shooting. I've tried the two auto settings, but all my images end up in one folder. The only way that I see to separate them is to use the Manual Reset choice in the menus, am I missing or not understanding something? Thanks, Ralph

No, that's correct.
One setting will create a new folder when the current one is full.
The other when you replace the card, even if the current folder on the card isn't full.
Then there is the manual reset, which will force creation of a new folder.

Just use a utility that will read EXIF and rename and create folders however you want. Much easier that way.

I'm not sure what is out there now, others can chime in. I'm using an old program called DIM.

If you use EOS Utility to transfer the files from the camera, it can do it on the fly.

ok thanks. I guess that if I want a new folder for each day (before I download my images to pc) I'll have to manual reset before I start to shoot.

If you use EOS Utility it will allow you to automate much of the file naming/numbering. I set mine up to put each body in a folder, then folders are created by date and I have 5 digit file numbers so when the folder on the card hits IMG_9999 it goes to IMG_10000 instead of starting over at IMG_0001. The only thing to keep in mind if you are using multiple cards is to download in order as the file number uses the sequential number.
