ok so now with the Fiji X100 coming out is everyone going retro?

Pentax is making a retro looking camera with prime lenses to match.

BTW, where are the F1.8 primes. Sheesh.

What do you think of the idea of retro cameras?

What's "retro" about a Pentax K-5, and who's "everyone" that's going retro? ;)

I like the limited edition lenses, silver cameras and lenses look great as long as it's real metal and not painted plastic.

you know....all those silver Canons that are coming out. Wait, nevermind.

I will say that while the silver cameras do look "retro", I'd prefer a black one.

I actually quite like that look. My 5d is a magnesium body so perhaps I can take some sandpaper to it and see if I can't replicate the look.

pentax is making authentic retros complete with age spots for the sensors,

seems the longer you use them the more spots they develop,

it appears they are replacing more bodies than they are selling now

I like the look regardless. Interested to see how well the k5 rates when tested.

I didn't like the look of 1974 cameras in 1974, and I still don't like the look of 1974 cameras. Furthermore, silver paint on plastic doesn't look at all like the satin chrome of the era.

I like the retro styling, but it'd be nice to see it on a metal body. I agree silver paint does not RETRO make.

Actually, I believe the K-5 is metal, not painted plastic.

I don't think you'd be happy with the look of bare magnesium - especially since it would probably have some welds showing -

You could take it completely apart, take the magnesium shell and have it hard-chromed....or if you really want some bling, how 'bout nickel plating?

Wow, what a nice picture! You must have a really great camera!

Seeing as how the camera's junk I might actually consider doing that. :D
