Hey there! I have a question regarding Sigma lenses. As everyone may know, Sigma lenses sometimes encounter issues mainly having to deal with focusing. Since the warranty is NOT transferable, how would the following scenario work out.

I, Danny, buy a Sigma 85mm 1.4. I have the original receipt from an authorized Sigma dealer. The warranty card is brand spanking new and untouched whatsoever. I decide to sell the lens to the buyer from the US as well. If I provide him the original receipt and the warranty card, could he possibly get the warranty coverage?

I am not that familiar of how Sigma warranties work out.

Don't quote me on this...but I think he can just say that it was a gift and he's the original owner and then he'll be covered...at least that's what I've heard in the past...

But, the thing is, how would they know who it belongs to? It doesn't say the name on the receipt or anything. Well unless it's an online receipt.

Again, I don't have any direct experience, so don't put too much faith in this...but I think it belongs to whoever's name is on the warranty card...but this is coming from a guy who usually buys used lenses and has never had to send anything in for warranty work.

all you have to do is prove ownership if asked!....And ofcourse the lens is still within the manufacturers warranty time. Ownership changes have nothing to do with the warranty unlss specified within the warranty terms and conditions

The terms says it is not transferrable though.

Warranty card has nothing to do with it. Receipt perhaps. Call Sigma and ask them. I think you are safe assuming non-transferreable.
