There were some issues on the home PC due to which the OS had to be re-installed.
After re-installing, the "font" i had used earlier does not list in the text selection options.

Following is one example image where I used my signature. I am a total noob at "selection" tools. Can someone help extract my signature from the image below and help provide a .PNG file which I can apply on my images from hereon please :)

Note: Selecting based on highlights in PS gives me a jagged edge :(

Here's how you could extract it:

  1. Crop the image to the logo.
  2. Go to the channels palette (by default it's the tab next to the layers palette)
  3. Control/Cmd + click on one of the channels (e.g. the blue channel) -This will create a selection based on the channel
  4. Go back to the layer palette. Create a new layer and fill it with white.
  5. With the layer still selected, create a new layer mask (The rectangle with a circle in it, at the bottom of the palette)
If the mask is the wrong way around you can inverse it by selecting the mask and pressing ctrl/cmd +i
  6. Save as png

I could give you a png, but this way you might have learned something new about selections. The same method applies also for cutting out people from a background.

Thank you for the inputs.

When I tried, I was unable to follow "fill it with white"
And ended up with a PNG file with a black background :|

The font appears to be Bickham Script Pro (external link)...I'm sure you can find it, or one reasonably close to it, online. While the signature can be extracted to posted image is too small to make doing so really worthwhile.

Here is an action of your signature. I hope it works in your version.
Open a file, run action, move the signature to wherever you want it.

Use the paint bucket tool with a white color for this or, assuming you have a black foreground color and a white background color (this is the default), press ctrl/cmd + del.
This will fill the layer with the background color. alt/option + del will fill the layer with the foreground color.

To set the color to their default, press "d", to swap the fore and background colors, press "x".

Wouldn't it be simpler to solve the font problem?

Thanks much cspringer for your time, the action did not work on PS 5 though :(

salival, guess I need to scale up on layers/masks a lot more. No luck yet.

Peano,
Bickham script does not seem to be available as a ready download.

Got hold of a friend and created a PNG file on his machine, made one with a white and one with a black text option :)
