Nice shots. I don't touch noise reduction till ISO 4000+ with my 7D files.

Thanks. Yeah I don't think I needed to use noise reduction but I'm used to using it for every picture with my 1D classic.

I think the noise at 2500 is cleaner than my 1d at 200 haha

I'd hope so. There's like 10 years of technology advances in the 7D

#2 is very nice, well done! I am massively looking forward to the higher ISOs (with less noise) from my upgrade arriving on Monday ...

Not a worry in the world!

Upgrade is a 20D (which ISOs by comparison to newer cameras aside is still very good) to a 5DII. I'm probably more excited about the step from a Sigma 20/1.8 that relies on electrical tape for functionality and a 50/1.8 that relies on happy thoughts ... to a 24-70.

Good pics, when I shoot dance companies at my school, the lighting is about a 1/4 of this lighting and i have to stand in the back of a decent sized theater.

I agree that the white balance is a little warm. I went ahead and fixed them in lightroom. The main photographer actually edits the photos so the ones that were sold have correct white balance.

@turbo- We are pretty lucky we have a nce theater. Very well lit. I get to go up close because we shoot the dress rehearsal.

So much depends on the available lighting and shooting position it is hard to make much of a judgment but it would help if they were to the maximum 1024 pixels on the long side. I am very fortunate to shoot my annual dance recital with excellent lighting, position (including a camera in the lighting truss almost straight above the stage) and stupendous talent/choreography/costumes.

Good shots. This was very helpful thread for me as my wife teaches dance and the lighting in the theater they do their Studio Review in is about the same. I also have the 7d and the 17-55 2.8 and always wondered how the combo will work at the show.
