With what I shoot (night sports, etc) I commonly find myself shooting at ISO 800 and up.
I really would like my images to come out cleaner looking.

I'm overwhelmed though by the amount of noise removal software and I'm not sure which is the best. I'd like to do batch processing in it.
I already have cs4, and it looks like a lot of programs are just photoshop plug-ins.

Recommendations?

There are lots of reviews on the web. Just google the names of the big ones with the word "review".

I have been very satisfied with Noise Ninja, but now that there is better NR in LR3, I don't use it very much anymore.

What camera are you using ?

ISO 800 shouldn't need NR if exposed properly.

With that said, there are a number of packages out there. Everyone has their favorite, Noise Ninja, Dfine, NeatImage, Topaz Denoise, CS5/LR3, etc.

All have trials you can download.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

I think everyone has hit the big names. Other than I am really impressed with the noise reduction in Lightroom 3. But that is a bit more expensive.

DxO Optics Pro does a great job of noise reduction from raw files. I find the defaults a bit too strong for my tastes but if it is used mildly, the remaining noise seems to come out very fine grained so it mostly disappears when resizing down or printing.

I like Noiseware the best. You can get it as a plug-in or stand alone version. The stand alone version comes in free, standard, and pro varieties depending on the features you need.

I am quite happy with CS5, but Neat Image works incredibly well as a PS (CS5, Elements, etc.) plugin.

Another vote for LR3. I use it when shooting ISO 3200. So far the largest I have printed out is 8x12 and they're fine

I've been looking for an exscuse to buy LR3.
I may check that out.
Thanks everybody!

Im also going to look at Nik's and Noise Ninjas.

Canon Rebel XS. The noise isn't near as present as 1600 (max on the xs) but it still usually needs some NR. The NR in cs4 has been causing me to lose detail, so I usually hesitate using it.
