Hi all,

Does anyone know some good places to buy some reasonable (and preferably fairly portable) used lighting kit (not eBay please!!)

Are there any good dealers in the UK that you know of? London up to Birmingham area would be fine.

Or are you planning of selling your kit in the near future?

Love to hear from you.

Thanks, Andy

Thanks Neil. I wanted to steer clear of eBay as I am not really knowledgeable on the subject of studio lighting, so I don't really know if the units would be well suited for my needs or not or even if I am getting a good deal or not.

Guess I need to do even more research! I've seen a few of the Portaflash kits one the market, but I haven't heard much about them, but they are a lot cheaper than the usual suspects like Bowens, Elinchrom etc.

small review in this months digital camera magazine on studio flash equipment.
The Elinchrom minilite kit (rrp £ 281) got 86% and the Prolinca 1-head got 89% £ 304 rrp

The budget one in their line up got 70% with a conclusion saying that you'd want to replace it in 6 months. Best Buys went to two kits costing over £ 800

There used to be a shop near Wolverhampton called Warner's or Warner and Son that dealt in professional lighting kit both new and used.

Excellent, thanks I will try and find them! If they're on the web I'll post a link here when I find it.
