Ha, so because it doesn't have "L" in the name u wont consider it? T4i Gripped, Sigma 17-70mm, 70-200 f/4L, 50mm 1.8

L designator has nothing to do with that, the build quality does. It doesn't bug some and is a huge deal stopper for others, myself included. The topic was beaten to death already, no point to reiterate through this here again.

Feb 13, 2011 13:46 | #9 WHo cares if its an L :S its build and capability that interests me... f2.8 at 15mm, IS will be improved to the 4 stop IS system. Also i have the 15-85, and the build is really nice and solid, the only thing it lacks is weather sealing. Gear List ●●flickr

Used in dusty environment , yes, have felt a need to clean the lens and camera externally often. My experience has not verified the, I think may be, over stated dust problem. cc

A good photographer can take extraordinary photos anywhere, with any camera and any lens while a mediocre one will take mediocre ones everywhere, with every camera and every lens.

I hope this will cause the current 17-55mm to drop in price. With Canon's current pricing strategy I would expect it to be on the higher end. The current "old" EFS 17-55 is $1100 street price so I would expect it to start off at $2000 for early adopters and drop closer to the $1500- $1600 range 6 or so months later. My Humble Gear List
