The extra stop of aperture would be a serious improvement to the 17-55IS. As a current 17-55 owner, I wouldn't be interested in a 15-60 f/2.8.

If Canon would release this now mythical lens i would definitely purchase it for my crop body since it would have the latest IS technology & build quality of the current 15-85 not to mention the constant f2.8 Silverfox1 POTN Feedback / TC Extender Tests / Gear List

Canon needs sealed EF-S lenses to complete the seal on 7D. Having the 17-55 isgreat but the non sealed standard main lens makes the sealed body pointless.
